WE NEED YOUR HELP...

Our members run the Atheist Alliance through their participation on the local and national level, but there's plenty to still accomplish and too few volunteers. The Alliance needs your help and energy in many areas, including online. The entire Web Center, for example, is the product of many peoples' hard work... be one of those people. Channel your creativity for everyone's benefit...

VOLUNTEER ON YOUR OWN TERMS back to top
job: Writers, Dabblers and Surfers
section: Humor, Family Issues, the Library, Freethought Bookshelf, Atheism on the Internet, and many more...
description: What about that editorial you wrote in a rage years ago? The jokes that keep your atheist friends in stitches? Or that hard-won experience on atheist event planning, parenting, or politicking? Write it down and send it in to Atheist Alliance. This little oasis on the web belongs to every member of the Atheist Alliance, and we're always looking for new stuff to add to our burgeoning content.

AAI WEB CENTER MAINTENANCE back to top
job: .html, .css handyman
section: the whole site
description: Website maintenance is currently handled by only two guys, and the demands of life can make this very difficult indeed. We're looking for someone who is motivated, meticulous and has a couple hours a week to spare for basic formatting and uploading of press releases to the Library section, updating the calendar, links, mainpage text, etc...
You need to be able to read basic .html at the very least, as in many cases you can use current pages as templates, and simply cut and paste new text. A greater knowledge of web coding will only help. Also, we're currently working on a major site redesign, and the new AAI Web Center will take full advantage of .css, so if you know Cascading Style Sheets, that's even better. If you are interested, we can start you off slow to see how things go, and then from there, who knows?

SECTION EDITOR: CENSORSHIP back to top
job: Section Editor
section: Censorship
description: This section offers has incredible possibilities, hosting relevant national and local news items on issues of censorship such as Banned Books, and Freedom of Speech, religious discrimination at school or at work, as well as our member's and member organization's own experiences with censorship (in print and television media, spoken, vandalism, etc.), incursions by the thought police into school reading lists, and much, much more.
Section Editors are responsible for seeking out and/or creating topical content for their specific sections. No HTML or programming experience is required (although it would be a bonus)... only creativity and good writing/editing skills.

 BOOK REVIEWERS back to top
section: Freethought Bookshelf
description: We're looking for well reasoned and well written book reviews for many of the books offered on the Freethought Bookshelf. Do you want to help other atheists choose the perfect book? We've got alot of books that currently have no reviews.
Book Review can be of any length as long as they are articulate and well-written. Review submissions should be made in standard text (.txt) format. Books for review ARE NOT provided by the Alliance, but we're sure you've got something on your shelves anyway.
