Technical Details and Issues:

We hope that your DVD viewing experience is trouble free. If not, please review the following:

Video: up to 3 cameras were rolling on some speakers, but usually 1-2. Sometimes none when a camera ran out of batteries! We tried to edit around that fact. However, after 3 days worth of convention and editing it all down to 6 hour edited DVD, you won't miss much.

Audio: the sound was captured by the cameras from the built in speakers. That means the sound is not high quality by any means, but everything is generally audible.

DVD: the dvd was created and produced by a few volunteers. Due to the nature of creating/burning DVD's, there are sometimes problems. If you are having any difficulty, please review the steps below to assess the problem:

Problem

Solution

The disc (or both discs) won't play at all.

Creating/Burning a disc from a home computer (as we've done to create this DVD set) has a 93% successful compatibility rate. DVD players that fall outside of this compatibility range are generally older players or are manufactured by a less known brand. You should try both discs, and if both disc one AND disc 2 fail immediately, it is a compatibility issue. The best way to test this is to play the DVD in another player in your home such a as a computer that can play DVD's (most computers can play DVD's nowadays) or a friend's DVD player. If you can get as far as the opening menu, compatibility is not a problem for that DVD player, so please enjoy the discs from such a compatible player. Please note a replacement set of DVD's will not fix a problem with an incompatible player.

The disc skips at certain spots.

All DVD's, whether made by major motion picture studios, or otherwise, can get scratched or physically damaged, or just get dirt on its surface. You can often see the damage or dirt by holding the reflective side up to the light. If you see debri or scratches, take window cleaner (eg: Windex) and a paper towel (but not brillo pad!) to rub the surface. Be sure to move the paper towel in a perpendicular direction, meaning from the inner circle edge to the outer edge, not going around with the circle. Naturally, work your way around the disc and keep at it for about 2 minutes. This method removes debri and can flatten microscopic surfaces scratches. Deep scratches are not going to improve much. See the problem below if your issue is not resolved.

The disc skips at certain spots, turns off suddenly, or returns to the menu in the middle of a speech.

This could be due to blemishes on the disc before we even burned them with the content. This is effectively a problem waiting to happen on random blank DVDs that we purchased. If the disc acts erratic after playing just fine in through most of the DVD, skip around the chapters of the disc to verify it's working except for the troublespot. If it plays just fine elsewhere and the other disc plays generally fine as well, and it's not a physical problem with the surface of the disc (see suggested cleaning method above), and you've tried the disc in other players (see first section above), then we can replace that specific disc. Please contact Jo Ann Mooney <JoAnn@freethinker.org> and describing the problem as best you can, specifying which disc is failing. Be sure to provide your contact info. If you are having trouble with Disc 2, for example, we will send out a new Disc 2 only at no cost to you. Please do NOT ship the problematic disc back to us. In the event that the replacement disc has any similar issue in one spot, odds are phenomenal it won't be in the same exact area and you will effectively have all the content between the discs. It may not be ideal, but to this we can only say, "DVDs work in mysterious ways."
