AAI to sponsor up to 100 Brazilian students to attend First Secular Humanist Congress

Atheist Alliance International (AAI) will sponsor up to 100 students to attend the First Secular Humanist Congress, to be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, 8 - 9 September.  Hosted by the Secular Humanist League of Brazil (LiHS), an AAI Member, the Congress will give students the opportunity to hear from leading atheist and humanist speakers, meet like-minded people and explore ways respond to the negative influence of religion in government and society. 

Carlos A. Diaz, AAI President said "Students are an important part of the next generation of voters and workers in Brazil and AAI is proud to sponsor their attendance.  This is the first time AAI has supported a convention in Latin America and we are excited by this opportunity to support atheism and secularism in the region."  

AAI will be represented at the Congress by President Carlos A. Diaz and Director Alexandre Shimono.

The First Secular Humanist Congress is also supported by the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) and Hivos.

A Aliança Ateísta Internacional (AAI) irá patrocinar a meia-entrada de até 100 estudantes brasileiros que comparecerem ao primeiro Congresso Humanista-Secular, sediado em Porto Alegre, Brasil, nos dias 8 e 9 de setembro. Organizado pela Liga Humanista-Secular do Brasil (LiHS), membro da AAI, o congresso dará aos estudantes a oportunidade de assistir à excelentes palestrantes ateus e humanistas, conhecer pessoas com mentalidade semelhante e explorar maneiras de responder à influência negativa da religião no governo e na sociedade.

Carlos A. Diaz, presidente da AAI, diz que “estudantes são uma parte importante da próxima geração de eleitores e trabalhadores no Brasil e a AAI está orgulhosa de patrocinar sua participação. Esta é a primeira vez que a AAI ajuda uma convenção na América Latina e estamos muito empolgados com essa oportunidade de colaborar com o ateísmo e secularismo na região”.

A AAI será representada no congresso pelo presidente Carlos A. Dias e pelo diretor Alexandre Shimono.

O primeiro Congresso Humanista Secular também é patrocinado pela União Humanista e Ética Internacional (IHEU) e Hivos.
