AAI International Exchange Program
The AAI Foundation International Exchange Program provides a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to experience cultural immersion and contribute to local communities. Through this program AAI volunteers can spend up to one year in another country supporting projects proposed by AAI Affiliate/Associate Members around the world. Projects may include educational programs or infrastructure construction/improvements.
In 2009/2010 AAI volunteers provided financial consulting, construction assistance and teaching assistance at the Kasese Humanist Primary school in southwestern Uganda.
If you participate in the Exchange you will be fully immersed in the local culture while making a genuine contribution to the community's prosperity and well-being.
Projects are proposed and volunteer needs identified by AAI Affiliate/Associate Members. These may be new or ongoing projects. Once AAI has determined that it will support a project, AAI matches volunteers (through interviews with volunteers) to that project based on skill level and interests; ensures that all local volunteer arrangements are made prior to the commencement of the project and coordinates the project schedule with the Affiliate/Associate.
Because of the variability of project needs and local conditions, projects may not always be available. Once a volunteer is assigned to an Exchange project the volunteer will be required to provide a signed commitment form and a deposit to secure their place in the Exchange. Volunteer expenses, food and accommodation are paid for by the volunteer or through funds raised by the Affiliate/Associate Member. Proof of vaccinations and other medical requirements, travel insurance, visas and other documentation may be required by AAI before a volunteer is accepted into the International Exchange Program.
