AAI has helped to find a haven for an ex-Muslim refugee who was on the brink of being returned to Pakistan where, in all probability, he would have been killed for apostasy. Working in collaboration with Humanists International, we have managed to get Jalal an offer of asylum in Germany!  These cases are so deserving and achievements are so hard to obtain that we are immensely proud to report this to you, our loyal Insider readers.

AAI gets daily pleas from closeted atheists in Islamic theocracies who are desperately seeking rescue. Social media on mobile phones has given them the power to communicate their despair and some have been driven to risky measures, such as videoing themselves burning a Qur’an. That is a deliberate offence of blasphemy which is punishable by death in thirteen nations. We are currently campaigning to save victims in Nigeria, Tunisia and Algeria. 

We are about to start a regular live-streamed mini telethon!  This will follow the tradition of TV events, like Live Aid, by mixing entertainment with fundraising for a worthy cause.
