We want to update you on some recent developments involving our organization, Atheist Alliance International (AAI). For over three decades, AAI has operated as a nonprofit organization registered in the State of California. However, due to an oversight common among volunteer-run charities, certain corporate governance and regulatory requirements were not fully met, particularly the filing of returns with the Franchise Tax Board and the Attorney General of the State of California. Previous AAI boards were under the impression that filing returns with federal authorities sufficed. 

During the last Extraordinary General Meeting and Annual General Meeting, we updated members on AAI's registration status in California. Since then, AAI has been reinstated by the California Department of Justice, and our registration with the California Secretary of State has been restored. We are presently awaiting confirmation of our Franchise Tax Board (FTB) reinstatement from the State of California, having submitted all requisite documentation.

Recently, a new organization using the name "Atheist Alliance International" approached us, demanding that we cease using our name and threatened legal action. In response, we have engaged a patent and trademark attorney to protect the rights of the Alliance. Our attorney is confident that we have a strong case and we believe it is important to keep you informed of the situation. 

Please rest assured that the funds designated for charitable purposes within our organization are not being used for this legal matter. The lawsuit is being funded by a few donors who have contributed explicitly to this cause. We deeply appreciate your support and understanding during this time.
