You may be aware that AAI has been subjected to a barrage of criticism, including much misinformation, in recent months. 

The events criticised go back at least five years. Nevertheless, the board conducted a thorough investigation to determine which criticisms were true and which were not. The investigation is now completed, and a Disclosure Document detailing everything relevant has been prepared. We will send you a copy shortly.

We have called an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) for 14:00 UTC on January 15, 2023, and we will invite our affiliate members to decide what steps should be taken to make amends for things that were not done properly in the past. Please note the date in your diary. This will be your opportunity to decide AAI’s future. The board will not participate in the voting, and all duly passed motions will be implemented.

Once you receive the Disclosure Document, please read it and consider what steps need to be taken to correct past errors. If you would like to propose a motion for the EGM, send it to the AAI Secretary (secretary@atheistalliance.org) by the deadline of December 18, 2022.

The EGM will be an online meeting. Joining instructions will be sent to you nearer the time, and we will send you a list of proposed motions two weeks before the meeting.

Your organization is entitled to have one delegate participate in the EGM. Please send the name and email address of your delegate to the AAI Secretary. However, motions can only be accepted from members with no outstanding membership fees, and only members with no outstanding membership fees are entitled to vote at the EGM. If you are unsure of your organization’s status, please contact the AAI Treasurer (treasurer@atheistalliance.org).

Our intention is to clear the air and allow AAI to make a new start so we can continue promoting secularism, supporting atheist organisations, saving the lives of atheists and making a difference for people worldwide. Please be a part of this process.
