Can we rid Nigeria of blasphemy laws?Last week our lawyers in Nigeria succeeded in quashing two convictions for blasphemy in the Shariah State of Kano. The first was Yahaya Sharif-Aminu who had been sentenced to death; the second was Umar Farouk who, at the age of 16 years was sentenced to 10 years with menial labour. He is pictured leaving prison and on his way to a safe location. |
