The Greek government will once again waste taxpayers’ money on a medieval scam.
According to recent publications, the Greek government will send a government plane to Jerusalem taking additional security measures.
Is this planned in terms of some diplomatic effort to stop the genocide in Gaza? Maybe for humanitarian aid?
No, this is to transfer the so-called ‘holy’ fire to Greece.
At the same time, in ᾽Τransparency᾽ (website for publicity of government policy and administrative activity), municipalities are identified to be preparing to spend public money for its reception e.g.: Hydra municipality, Leros municipality.
Only god knows (pun intended) how much more will be spent in carrying this lantern without been published in ᾽Τransparency᾽.
All this in a bankrupt and impoverished country (again according to a recent report by the Financial Times).
The ‘holy’ fire (or ‘holy’ light in Greek) is medieval trickery invented by Western Christian monks (Catholic) and then used by the Eastern ones (Orthodox) to whom the exploitation of the so-called ‘holy’ lands had passed in between.
(It is supposed to be a miracle that happens on every orthodox good Saturday. The Greek-orthodox patriarch of Jerusalem enters a chapel claimed to be near the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth (a person that probably never really existed according to Mythicist research). The patriarch, who is always alone, says some magic words (prayers) and then his candles are allegedly lit by the “holy” light.)
To put it simply the ‘holy’ light was a lucrative tourist attraction to exploit naive pilgrims and appease the Saracen raiders and landholders of the time.
The above has been excellently analyzed and documented by Adamantios Koraes (the most prominent figure of the Greek Enlightenment) in his excellent relevant study “Dialogue about the holy light in Jerusalem“.
He wrote referring to the financial aspect of the scandal:
Perhaps the Holy Sepulcher alone taxes the Greeks with a general tax, as much as all other monasteries do not receive tribute. I leave it to you to think, if with such a quantity of silver, instead of two or three humble scientific schools, could we not have many more of them adorned with many teachers of various sciences and arts; instead of two hundred young students in enlightened Europe, four hundred or five hundred; if with so many means of enlightenment, in a very short time, the suffering Greece would join the wisest nations of Europe.
But not even in his nightmares could he imagine the downfall of the last three decades.
In recent years, the pseudo-miracle has further evolved into a mechanism for exploiting naive voters and demonstrating ‘piety’ by political parties. For many years the shameless lantern was transported by government aircraft and the disreputable Greek government welcomed it with honours as if it was a head of state!
After public awareness was raised in the previous decade by organizations such as the Atheist Union of Greece and a related question in parliament by a group of parliamentarians, the transport was taken over by private airlines.
Further, after the revelation by the Patriarchate of Jerusalem itself that there is nothing miraculous in this flame and with the circumstance of the corona pandemic, the reception with head of state honours also stopped.
The reinstatement of a government courier is believed to be an attempt by the right-wing government to limit voter leaks to the far-right ahead of the European elections. Also, to restore good relations with the church which was unhappy with the establishment of same-sex marriage (an issue solely within the jurisdiction of the state).
As for the church, all these years, it cooperated and cooperates with the government in degrading the intelligence of citizens and wasting public money.
The scandal of the ‘holy’ light is highly symbolic for the case of secularisation of the state in Greece. Nothing would be more indicative of secularizing intentions than a bold condemnation of this practice.
As has been pointed out several years ago, it is not a matter of political cost but one of benefit as all the relevant opinion polls in recent years consistently show society in favor of the secularisation of the state with an overwhelming percentages of over 70% of the electorate.
Therefore, the reaction of the opposition parties is awaited with interest.
Η Ελληνική κυβέρνηση θα σπαταλήσει και πάλι χρήματα των φορολογούμενων σε μια μεσαιωνική απάτη.
Σύμφωνα με πρόσφατες δημοσιεύσεις, η Ελληνική κυβέρνηση θα στείλει κυβερνητικό αεροπλάνο στην Ιερουσαλήμ λαμβάνοντας πρόσθετα μέτρα ασφάλειας.
Θα το κάνει στο πλαίσιο κάποιας διπλωματικής προσπάθειας για παύση της γενοκτονίας στη Γάζα; Ίσως για παροχή ανθρωπιστικής βοήθειας;
Όχι, θα το κάνει για να μεταφέρει στην Ελλάδα το λεγόμενο ‘άγιο’ φως.
Ταυτόχρονα, στη Διαύγεια εντοπίζονται δήμοι που ετοιμάζονται να δαπανήσουν δημόσιο χρήμα για την υποδοχή του πχ. δήμος Ύδρας, δήμος Λέρου.
Και ποιος ξέρει πόσα ακόμη θα σπαταληθούν για τη μεταφορά αυτού του καντηλιού και δεν θα περάσουν από τη Διαύγεια.
Όλα αυτά σε μια χώρα χρεωκοπημένη και φτωχοποιούμενη (πάλι σύμφωνα με πρόσφατο δημοσίευμα των Financial Times).
Το ‘άγιο’ φως είναι μια μεσαιωνική απάτη που επινοήθηκε από Δυτικούς χριστιανούς μοναχούς (Καθολικούς) και στη συνέχεια χρησιμοποιήθηκε από τους Ανατολικούς (Ορθόδοξοι) στους οποίους είχε εντωμεταξύ περάσει η εκμετάλλευση των λεγόμενων ‘αγίων᾽ τόπων. Για να το πούμε απλούστερα το ‘άγιο’ φως ήταν μια προσοδοφόρος τουριστική ατραξιόν για εκμετάλλευση των αφελών προσκυνητών και για να κατευνάσει τους Σαρακηνούς επιδρομείς αλλά και κρατούντες τα εδάφη εκείνης της εποχής.
Τα παραπάνω έχει αναλύσει και τεκμηριώσει ο Αδαμάντιος Κοραής στην εξαιρετική σχετική του μελέτη “Διάλογος περί του εν Ιεροσολύμοις αγίου φωτός“.
Έγραφε αναφερόμενος στην οικονομική διάσταση του σκανδάλου:
Ἴσως μόνος ὁ ἅγιος τάφος φορολογεῖ τῶν Γραικῶν τὸ γένος φόρον, ὅσον δὲν λαμβάνουν ὅλα τἄλλα μοναστήρια ἐντάμα. Ἀφίνω σε τώρα νὰ συλλογισθῇς, ἐάν μὲ τόσην ἀργυρίου ποσότητα, ἀντὶ δύο ἢ τριῶν ταπεινῶν ἀκόμη σχολίων ἐπιστημoνικῶν, δὲν ἐδυνάμεθα νὰ ἔχωμεν πολλὰ γυμνάσια στολισμένα μὲ πολλοὺς διαφόρων ἐπιστημῶν καὶ τεχνῶν διδασκάλους· ἀντὶ διακοσίων νέων σπουδαζόντων εἰς τὴν φωτισμένην Εὐρώπην, τετρακοσίους ἢ πεντακοσίους· ἐὰν μὲ τόσα μέσα φωτισμοῦ, δὲν ἤθελ ̓ εἰς πολλὰ μικρὸν χρόνου διάστημα ἡ ταλαίπωρος Ἑλλὰς συνερίζεσθαι μὲ τὰ σοφώτερα ἔθνη τῆς Εὐρώπης.
Ούτε στους εφιάλτες του όμως δεν θα μπορούσε να φανταστεί την κατάντια των τριών τελευταίων δεκαετιών.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια το ψευδοθαύμα εξελίχθηκε επιπλέον σε μηχανισμό εκμετάλλευσης αφελών ψηφοφόρων και επίδειξης ‘ευσέβειας’ από τα πολιτικά κόμματα.
Για πολλά χρόνια το αναίσχυντο καντήλι μεταφερόταν με κυβερνητικό αεροσκάφος και η ανυπόληπτη ελληνική κυβέρνηση το υποδεχόταν με τιμές αρχηγού κράτους!
Μετά την ευαισθητοποίηση του κοινού την προηγούμενη δεκαετία από οργανώσεις όπως η Ένωση Αθέων και σχετική ερώτηση στη βουλή από ομάδα βουλευτών, την μεταφορά ανέλαβαν ιδιωτικές αεροπορικές εταιρείες.
Μετά και την αποκάλυψη από το ίδιο το πατριαρχείο Ιεροσολύμων ότι δεν υπάρχει τίποτα το θαυματουργό σε αυτή τη φλόγα και με τη συγκυρία της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού, σταμάτησε και η υποδοχή με τιμές αρχηγού κράτους.
Η επαναφορά του κυβερνητικού courrier εκτιμάται ότι είναι μια προσπάθεια της δεξιάς κυβέρνησης να περιορίσει τις διαρροές ψηφοφόρων προς τα ακροδεξιά ενόψει των ευρωεκλογών. Επίσης για να αποκαταστήσει καλές σχέσεις με την εκκλησία η οποία δυσαρεστήθηκε για τη θέσπιση του γάμου ομόφυλων ζευγαριών (ένα ζήτημα αποκλειστικά και μόνο στη δικαιοδοσία της πολιτείας).
Η δε εκκλησία, όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, συνεργάστηκε και συνεργάζεται με την κυβέρνηση στην υποτίμηση της νοημοσύνης των πολιτών και στη σπατάλη δημοσίου χρήματος.
Το σκάνδαλο του ‘αγίου’ φωτός είναι εξαιρετικά συμβολικό για την υπόθεση της εκκοσμίκευσης της πολιτείας στην Ελλάδα. Τίποτε δεν θα ήταν περισσότερο ενδεικτικό προθέσεων εκκοσμίκευσης όσο η θαρρετή καταδίκη αυτής της πρακτικής.
Όπως έχει τονιστεί αρκετά χρόνια πριν δεν πρόκειται για πολιτικό κόστος αλλά για όφελος καθώς όλες οι σχετικές δημοσκοπήσεις των τελευταίων ετών εμφανίζουν σταθερά την κοινωνία να τάσσεται υπέρ του διαχωρισμού κράτους εκκλησίας με συντριπτικά ποσοστά πάνω από 70% του εκλογικού σώματος.
Αναμένεται με ενδιαφέρον η αντίδραση των κομμάτων της αντιπολίτευσης.
