
Maria Turchetto, graduated from the University of Pisa and obtained a diploma from the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento “Sant’Anna” in Pisa in 1976, subsequently obtained a specialization at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, where she was a researcher from 1981 to 1987. Transferred to the University “Ca’ Foscari” in Venice, she taught Political Economy, History of Economic Thought, Epistemology of Social Sciences.
She has carried out research in the field of History of Economic Thought and Economic Theory with particular interest in the thought of Marx and the Historical School of Economics; in the field of epistemology on the relationships between the social sciences and the life sciences; in the field of philosophy on the thought of Louis Althusser, of whom she edited the Italian editions of Pour Marx and Lire le Capital.
She has published numerous essays in Italian and foreign volumes and journals (Science & Society, Historical Materialism, Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal, Actuel Marx, Critica Marxista, Quaderni Materialisti, Metamorfosi, Marx 101, Naturalmente Scienza).
She has been responsible for research of national interest. She has directed the journals Metamorfosi, Marx 101 and L’Ateo.
She is president of the cultural association “Louis Althusser”; she directs the series Althusseriana and Epistemologia at the publishing house Mimesis in Milan; she is director of the journal Naturalmente Scienza published by the publishing house ETS in Pisa.
