Amardeo Sarma is a telecommunication engineer by profession and one of the leading figures in the Skeptical movement. His interests are identity management, security, and car-to-car communication. His passion for science and education led him to join the Skeptical movement in 1987. He was a founding member of the German Skeptical Organisation (GWUP) in 1987 and immediately launched a campaign to prevent the German Government from funding the research project “Influence of Earth radiation, geomagnetism and cosmic effects on human health”, which he considered to be extremely unscientific. Sarma began as the managing director of the GWUP, and from 2008 to 2023 he chaired the organization. In 1994 he co-initiated the European skeptical umbrella ECSO, serving as its chair between 2000 and 2013.
